Apple - Mac OS X - Tiger Preview
So Jobs told us about it today. Not quite sure if there is anything to aww at. I’ll probably get it since I’m Apple’s bitch(sm).

Buys things on eBay has to be the shadiest thing ever. Heck, even buying from a person with a rating of 99.4 % (1087) rating doesn’t exclude you from shady deals.
You probably guessed it from the title and from the preceeding paragraph, I got the “replacement” 21-inch monitor yesterday. I say “replacement” since it appears to be the exact same monitor with the exact same problem. It even has the exact same setting I sent it back with. This is getting old and tiresome. I mean shit, if I had to send it back again, I could have bought another monitor. I mailed the contact for the company and will call her on Monday if needed.
Solaris: Operating Environment or Motion Picture?
Found this while I was work, looking for Solaris crap. The first time I saw the movie title in the theater, I laughed so hard.
So after a week and “borrowing” a cart from Stop & Shop, I finally got the monitor shipped back to the place (geez, that too forever). All have to say is I hade FedEx and I hate Mail Box Etc.. FedEx says that they have Home Delivery Pickup. Nope, they don’t have it. Mail Box Etc. just rips you off. That has to be one of the most expensive places that has ever existed. Not only did they refuse to ship my package FedEx Ground (something about it being overweight), they quoted me a price for UPS Ground that was more than double what FedEx’s site said FedEx Ground would cost (the lady said that they should cost around the same). Gahdamn, the whole point of Ground service is for overweight and large packages. The lady was quick to respond that my package was overweight so it’s not eligible for FedEx Ground (this was all while I was staring at the ceiling mobile thing for FedEx Ground). Well, if there is a happy ending to this, I got to use by new American Express Blue card… okay, so nothing good happened.
Yeah, so I’m working tonight, it ought to give me some time to work on my lab reports and such. I really need to get them things done by the end of my shift. Ernie’s not here, which is good. It’ll save me the trouble of having to listen to one of his stories that he enjoys telling so much. I really want someone to tell him the truth about how he is with this job. Anyway, back to staring at Nagios.
Our Sun workstation at Operations are being replaced with Dell PCs, just like the labs. In fact, they will look exactly like lab PCs since they will use a similar disk image and authenticate the same way. I am not happy with this.
Operator’s JLA accounts will be removed since we will not be needing them anymore with the new PCs. Toolbox (aka NBCS) will be our main account now. I am pissed about this.
I must say, Camino is really nice. Very stylist on Mac OS X. And can’t forget, very, very fast. Even faster than the other Mac-only web browser on page loading (I <3 Gecko, stupid KHTML crap). I have since removed Safari from my dock and am trying to convert to Camino, finally returning the Mozilla family of web browsers.
Well, I can’t say the same about the Mozilla standalone mail client, Thunderbird. It’s nice and all, but 0.6 likes to hang around even when you don’t want it to (like say when you Quit the app). I’m downloading 0.7RC for Mac OS X as I type this, hopefully this is resolved.
I cleaned up a little bit. Hmm, sorry if your posts got deleted, it’s just that we have differing opinions and, well, this is my site, not yours.
Anyway, I disabled registration, since it doesn’t even gain you benefits (you needed to be level up’ed to do anything and I wasn’t about to do that). You can still do the comment thing, just not that post thing (which you could never do in the first place).
I purchased a 21-inch Sun monitor off of eBay two days ago, since the previous 17-inch one was not up to my liking. Well, FedEx came today and drop the monior off (literally). Well, it works, which is a start. It seems too bright. Doing an install of Solaris 9 using that strange beast of an install (read fixing Solaris 8 if you don’t know what I mean). Why? I don’t know. I’ll try taking picture later on.
It’s been a week since I’ve came back and I have come to the conclusion that my vacation wasn’t that bad, I mean once I relaxed. Well, I had to get some things straight and realize something. Ehh, let’s not go into it.
Well, anwway, it’s a week of doing nothing. And with this nothing has gone all my time. Sheesh. Well, I have work in a few hours and then training for said work. We get to see (and hear) the generator along with some information on how it works. Ought to be good (well, I get paid for it). The there is some sort of party at 52 (if you know what that is). Then more work. Hmm… nevermind.
So that ends another content free post. May I remind you, my birthday is in twenty-three days.
