Wired News: Whatever Happened to SGI?
Normally I don’t like Wired, but they ran an SGI article, which mentions the Indy (the only SGI machine I have).
The Operating Systems Handbook
Some good reading if you’re bored and want to learn OSes you’ll never use (save Unix).
Does anyone know of a bot that floods WordPress blogs with spam? I’m getting spammed and it’s getting to the point where it’s getting annoying again. The damn thing is commeting to post that don’t exist!
So I’ve come to realize that I need to clean my room. I barely have walking room, there are so many papers and magazines on the floor (all of which are from organizations I’m a member of), the computers are screaming for a proper home, and that propane tank on the broken shelf laying on books and periodicals right below the shelf with the bottle of 91% alcohol next to the lighter isn’t all that safe. I managed to fix the smaller bookshelf and sort the paper/magazines on the floor. I still need a new bookshelf to replace the broken one (I don’t think that bowing shelves that are half off the pegs is a good thing). So there is a pile of garbage on the floor that needs to be thrown out and I need to find a place to place all the computers cause I didn’t plan for my work table to become a storage container (I actually plan to do some electronics work soon). I think I know what I’m doing on Sunday after work.
Where the hell am I going to put that patch of fake grass anyway?
Slashdot | Build Your Own Cyclotron
Slashdot is running a story on Tim Koeth, the Rutgers student who made the 12-inch cyclotron the other year.
Yeah, so the reason I’ve been in pain the last week is becuase I have an “inflamed bladder” (among other things). Doctor gave me drugs, pretty ones too. This pain better go away.
Uhh, I broke down and started to use RULink. My calendar is publicly available, so feel free to stalk me.
Finally, someone bumped the Earth Simulator (35.8 TFlops) off the top of the top 500 supercomuters list. It’s not even at the number 2 position now, it’s number 3. IBM’s BlueGene/L (70.7 TFlops) and SGI’s Colubmia (51.8 TFlops) are at the 1 and 2 position now, respectively.
