Mmmm, warm brick

So I had a Motorola WA840G wireless AP sitting around and decided to “upgrade” the firmware to OpenWrt (yeah, the same stuff that use on the Linksys’). The changing of the firmware seemed simple enough, just upload the new firmware via the web interface and reboot the device. One caveat was the version 1 of the device was still a work in progress. Not to let a little danger get in the way, I updated my version 1’s firmware and successfully bricked my AP. Damn, I have to figure out how to change the firmware back, which finding information for is difficult. I think a little tftp action is in order.

Update: As it turns out, I didn’t brick it after all, it was just taking a long time to respond (cpu was probably pegged). One problem solved, another arises: there is too little flash or something else that would make the “firstboot” script complain about no space. So, stuff still doesn’t work.
