I just got Red Alert 3 for the Mac. It worked fine after installing it, but after a reboot, it crashes on start up.
I must say, the EA support pages are pretty horrible. It’s difficult to find support articles (worth anything) or to get patches.
I’d really appreciate it if someone could help me. I run the game on the top 24-inch iMac that just got released (Stock, except for a bluetooth mouse. Stats are in the Systems page). Here is the messages I get on the “Game crash” screen:
: < << DID YOU REMEMBER TO BUILD DATA??? >>>
You might have build the wrong LOD level!
Can't open stream data\mapmetadata.manifest
256 addresses:
(0): (unknown mod) (unknown)
(0): (unknown mod) (unknown)
... continues for a while ...

Because of the severity of this error the game will now exit.
Have the same probleme after installin the last patch on 09.04.09
what about reinstallin?
arrh Same here, I installed the ypdates so that I could play online. I was able to play online for a few hours, then I shut computer down, tried to open it up again and that error message came up!!!
Please let us know if any of you guys find out how to correct it, Im tempted to try re-installing it???
I’m tempted to reinstall, but I know there is an install limit (I think it is 5). If I find the app to de-authorize an install, I’d be willing, but I have yet to find it.
I’m browsing the net and not many people seem to be having the same problem!
Got the same issue – brothers in pain!
Any known solution so far?
I’ve looked around, and it appears that the install limit is per-machine. I’ll try reinstalling and trying to see what breaks it (pin point the problem).
Im having the same issue. I just bought the game today, and Im using a brand new MacBook Pro – the game booted fine until I switched over to the advanced graphics card – NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT.
EA Support pages are useless for Mac users it seems. Im tempted to take the game back to the Apple Store and try for a refund. I shouldnt have to work this hard to play a game.
Hi all,
please see below the answer that I received from EA support…
Not very promising but I am currently checking what process might be the cause…
********************************************************************
Greetings Holger,
Thank you for contacting EA customer support.
I apologize for the inconvenience caused to you. There are variety of programs running in the background on your computer which may be using a considerable amount of system resources. Closing these unnecessary background processes will help boost system performance in your game, as well as free up system resources which may be conflicting with the game.
1. From the Finder menu open the Go menu and select Utilities.
2. Open the Activity Monitor program.
3. In the top right cornor, make sure the My Processes option is selected from the pull down menu.
4. Highlight the programs listed one at a time and click the Quit Process button in the top left.
5. When the confirmation window appears select Force Quit to close the program.
6. Repeat those steps until only the following four are listed:
Dock
Finder
LoginWindow
Activity Monitor
Note: there will be other programs that either will not close, or will re-appear after being closed. Those processes can be skipped.
7. Close the activity monitor and attempt to run the game.
Be aware that this is only a temporary change, restarting the system will restore it to the default state. If closing these programs helps resolve performance issues you may want to go through them one by one to narrow down which program is causing the conflict.

….aaarrrgghhh….. I received another feedback from EA which is worth nothing. Now they feedback it is a problem of the MacOS…
I tried killing most of the running processes. Still no luck either.
I have the same prob but I found a work around until EA/Transgsaming fix this issue right click on the Red Alert App and click show contents then go to contents then MacOS then open CNCRA3-launcher and that will boot the C&C RA3 option screen then click play and then it loads fine with no errors so im hoping someone can use this method to hopefully fix the issue its a pain to have to jump through so many hoops EA!!
Update: Contacted EA Support in regards to this issue and told them my work around and I got the same “copy and paste” email as above blaming it on resources the guy didn’t obviously read my email properly. So Im going to modify the Info.plist myself and if it works I will upload the modified Info.plist somewhere so when you hit the RA3 icon it will execute CNCRA3-launcher instead of RA3.exe thus loading the game instead of getting errors
-Josh
Nice, CNCRA3-launcher worked!
When I contacted EA, they gave me the same form letter with the resources, which I told them doesn’t work. Then they told me I don’t meet min reqs. I asked the which ones I don’t meet, which they replied to “Run Software Update and repair disk permissions”.
At least there is a work around which EA gets their act together.
Please do post the plist when you get it working.
Hei Josh!
Great job!
It works! thanks!
I’m not sure what exactly I did, but I updated to OS X 10.5.7 last night, and RA3 started working again. I’m not sure if it was the update as I have directly launched it in weeks.
I am having the same issue on a current 24″ iMac with ATI graphics and 10.5.7. I was having the same failure to launch but magically launching from within the package, as suggested above, works. It’s crazy to me that EA puts out something this fickle.
I GOT IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ok open up the disk off of your desktop and launch the aplication from the folder from the CD not your hard drive. Once you do this you will see the star with a 3 in the middle but in gray once that is open just wait and the game works. YESSSSSSSSS finally i can play it
thx josh! now past that error and im on to a “load error: load failed”
any more ideas?
Same error as above…. Screw it.
I am having the sam4 issue on a current 24" oMac with ATI graphics and 10.5.7. I was having the same failure to launch but magocally launching from within the package, as suggested above, works. It's crazy to me that EA puts out something this fickle.;
